"Very Easy"? Says who?

As my days of wearing green fatigues draw near, I keep getting comments
about how easy national service in Taiwan is nowadays with increasing
frequency...and guess what? Most of those comments were made by girls. Seriously...made me wonder which five star general died and made them
expert? It's not that such generalisations don't have some truth to
it, most of the time I would humor them and reply that " Yeah, it's
nothing compared to my uncle's time,when he served three years and
spent most of his time in Kinmen,a short swim away from the mainland."

But I can't help but feel slightly annoyed by how they say it so
matter-of-factly. And is that supposed to be comforting? I think that
it's perfectly fine if a guy who went through the military said something
like that, cos at least there's some basis of comparison (minus some
exaggeration, which guys tend to do when talking about their army days.
I'd say take a 20%-30% discount from what they say how tough it was and
you would arrive at more or less a more accurate situation.) The girls
seem always to have their sources:a friend's friend, classmate, etc...
But how can you say it so matter-of-factly when all you've based your
judgement on is hearsay?

I for one can't be sure, though the popular opinion seem to support these
generalisations. But the truth is that how hard military life would be
largely depends on your commander(and your luck). You can be in a tough
unit but still enjoy an easy time as a clerk. Or you can be in a supposedly
comfortable unit and live life as a living hell. I guess the only way to
tell for sure is after I finish it and trade military stories with other
dudes who've been through it(something guys do for the rest of their life:
talk about the few years they spend in the military and how tough they were).

As a male Taiwanese citizen I think I'm obliged to serve in the military as
the men before me did. That's more than I can say for most of the Taiwanese guys
I know in Singapore, always coming up with excuses like "I can't leave my
career(Oh...like the rest of us don't have careers)", "It's a waste of time",
etc...employing stall tactics and converting to Singapore citizenship for
the "convenience". The truth is that they just want to avoid their obligations
as much as possible. Why don't they just get it over and done with instead of
stalling it forever until they are too old and are no longer required to serve?

I think that you can't always take the easy way out in life. Besides, with all
the comments of how easy national service is these days, what are you guys
afraid of?

P.S. The result of my military posting by "lottery" is out. I'm going to serve
in the Republic of China Air Force.

我到西安時發現秦始皇陵右邊插了一支"和平柱" 記起一陣子前在台灣看到的新聞
但怕被公安誤會所以沒把它拔掉
結果我遊九份金瓜石爬山的時候又被我遇到日本仔破壞臺灣的風水...

那時心裡想:我再不拔掉那爛樁我就不姓黃了!
那根"和平柱"就被我處理了...

以後我看到一支拔一支!
下面新聞裡的人說的好...我們跑到二戰侵略國日本插幾支"和平柱"看它願不願意!

搶救台灣風水！道教鋸斷日本和平柱　發現暗藏符咒

日前彰化縣政府和日本民間團體在八卦山立了一根祈求世界和平的柱子，引起本土道教團體撻伐，認為這是日本破壞台灣風水的惡劣行徑，7日下午，一群人準備了電動工具，踞掉了這根和平柱。

這根位在彰化八卦山的柱子，四面都寫著「祈願和平降臨全世界」的中日文，是日前日本人前來立下的，結果引發道教人士的撻伐，他們說日本人包藏禍心，被插柱子的地點，根本就是台灣的心臟位置。

道教學會人員陳先生指出，「是經過他們皇宮裡面的法師，用法術去觀察到，這個地方是我們台灣的靈氣之所在。」

道教學會人員何先生也說，「如果有機會，我們也要去拿一支比較大支的去他們日本，插一支也是和平的，因為我們台灣都給他插了，希望他們也讓我們插。」

為了不讓日本人破壞台灣的風水寶地，更不能壞八卦山的龍脈，學會一行人特別搬來電動工具，鋸掉這根和平柱。

柱子鋸斷了，裡面被發現玄機。道教學會人員指出，「喔！裡面有東西喔！喔！有符咒，你看他們在幹什麼？」

裡面有符咒和紙張，紙張上寫著一堆日本姓名，每個姓名後面都加了「即神也」三個字，看得大家一頭霧水，道教學會人員堅信這是邪教的作法，他們表示，除了這根和平柱，台灣其他還有五處分別被立在台北、彰化、台南和高雄的柱子，也將會像今天這樣，一一被鋸掉消滅。

希特勒的確只有一顆睪丸

外界一直流傳納粹領導人希特勒只有一顆睪丸，德國一個神父的筆記證明了這一點。

一個在一次大戰的時候，救過希特勒的德國醫護兵(楊坡)生前跟一個神父說，
一九一六年，德軍在「桑墨」陷入苦戰，傷亡慘重。有一天，一個腹部和大腿
受傷的士兵送到了醫護站。這名傷兵就是希特勒。希特勒由於負傷，一顆睪丸
壞死，必須切除。楊坡說，麻藥退了，希特勒醒過來以後問醫官的第一句話就
是他還能不能生孩子？

楊坡二十三年前過世，活了九十二歲。

希特勒只有一顆睪丸的說法流傳了很久。二次大戰的時候，英國人還編了不少
歌嘲笑他。有一首說，希特勒蛋蛋掉一顆，小時媽媽割了另一顆。

昨天出席我們系上的創業基金開幕儀式(其實教室都用了快要一年才來開幕)...以後我有賺

老實說老馬雖然也算個國際政壇明星但也輪不到你們來投票吧? 新加坡的媒體自由和記者
的程度就不用說了...在新加坡我一向只看得到臺灣的負面新聞...這樣的投票能有多客
觀(不過老馬果然有魅力..老外滿意度超高)這讓我想起幾個月前第8頻道做的李明博和
馬英九施政滿意專集...主持人很囂張的對兩位總統冷嘲熱諷一番...讓我邊看邊冷笑
想著"妳有種就作個新加坡總理施政滿意專集看看"...新加坡如果有朝一日能接受不一
樣的聲音而不是只會批評別的國家元首才是社會真的進步(自願出來創業的人搞不好
不需要政府跟企業家捐錢也會多一些)

歹年冬還好我沒有去讀MBA 不過我唸的這個好像也沒好到那裡去 -_-|||

曾經風光一時的企管碩士(MBA)，在經濟蕭條和金融海嘯的衝擊下，現在落得「更多苦頭」(more bitterness ahead)的封號。美國《時代》雜誌說，企管碩士不再吃香，就業市場低迷，無法再揮金如土，未來還有更多的苦頭。
過去在華爾街工作的企管碩士，年薪平均在六位數字以上，受到人們欽羨，在社交場合攻無不克，許多企管碩士被寵壞了，還大搞婚外情，外界遂稱MBA為「married but available」。

資遣者眾少了銀彈風流不再

但現在許多企管碩士遭到資遣，即使在職者也是朝不保夕，天之驕子少了銀彈攻勢，「married but available」的花名終於黯淡，改以「more bitterness ahead」取代稱號。

《時代》雜誌表示，比起往年百家爭搶，今年MBA畢業生就業困難，各大學的商學院和就業輔導辦公室都承認，今年企業的招募機會減少，尤其是金融相關行業，薪資差了很多。

美國萊斯大學商學院說，「不確定性」的氣氛瀰漫了金融業，顧問公司和銀行擔心計畫或交易會延遲，大公司憂慮下一波的裁員行動，整個就業市場就成了「觀望」的局面。

就業困難學生難過陷於沮喪

西北大學商學院表示，沒有公司想多僱用人員，華爾街目前只想保住既有員工，減少新血招募，困境會讓MBA學生思索他們真正想要的。史丹福大學商學院說，有些學生正經歷一段低潮週期，最初是錯愕和驚慌，拒絕接受現實，最後是陷於沮喪。

《時代》雜誌說，MBA長期以來支領高薪，但在今年，即使具有優秀資歷的MBA畢業生，謀職也多不順利，很多已面臨生活壓力。這波經濟蕭條將持續幾年，預料MBA還有更多的苦頭在後面。

As a gadget freak, I have been following the industrial and product
design trend in Taiwan's IT products since I was in secondary school.
And I'm glad to say that every year Taiwan's industrial and product
design has gained some! Germany's Red Dot design award is a good
testament to that, this year a total of 45 products were awarded the
Red Dot Design Award and another 12 got honorable mention!

We've gone a long way from being just simple OEM and ODM industry with
the "Me too" mentality!

In the past ten years, Taiwan’s economic landscape has been subject to serious changes. Formerly, Taiwan was known for cheap mass production; but recently domestic companies have been focusing more and more on quality and design thus becoming a rival to Japan and South Korea as design nations. This is because Taiwan has developed from a mere production site to a knowledge-based society. It is, for example, reflected in the continuous development of high-tech industry. Thanks to well directed public promotion and private commitment Taiwan’s creative industries can report their greatest success - an annual growth rate of 7.5 %. Accordingly, the production value of 10.6 billion Euro generated by the creative industry in 2003 has risen to more than 12 billion Euro in 2005.

The creative industry doesn’t need to fear worldwide comparison with others. Results achieved in international design competitions by Taiwanese companies such as BenQ, Asus, Qisda, Tatung and design studios such as Duck Image and Nova Design account for this fact. In this year’s red dot award: product design, 45 products from Taiwan alone have been awarded, another twelve got an honourable mention. For being a crucial factor in their respective category five products have been actually awarded the highest distinction, the red dot: best of the best. This is an outstanding success in the light of altogether only 50 “red dot: best of the best” awards.

The international umbrella organisations Icsid (International Council of Societies of Industrial Design), Icograda (International Council of Graphic Design Associations) and IFI (International Federation of Interior Architects/Designers) have discovered the potential Taiwan is holding for the future of design. They will hold their first common congress as International Design Alliance (IDA) in Taiwan in 2011 which more than 2,000 designers from all over the world are expected to attend.

What am I doing wrong?

Okay, I'm tired of beating around the bush. I'm a beautiful

- Jobs I should look out for? Everyone knows - lawyer, investment

I read your posting with great interest and have thought meaningfully
about your dilemma. I offer the following analysis of your predicament.
Firstly, I'm not wasting your time, I qualify as a guy who fits your
bill; that is I make more than $500K per year. That said here's how I
see it.

Your offer, from the prospective of a guy like me, is plain and simple a
cr@ppy business deal. Here's why. Cutting through all the B.S., what you
suggest is a simple trade: you bring your looks to the party and I bring
my money. Fine, simple. But here's the rub, your looks will fade and my
money will likely continue into perpetuity...in fact, it is very likely
that my income increases but it is an absolute certainty that you won't
be getting any more beautiful!

So, in economic terms you are a depreciating asset and I am an earning
asset. Not only are you a depreciating asset, your depreciation
accelerates! Let me explain, you're 25 now and will likely stay pretty
hot for the next 5 years, but less so each year. Then the fade begins in
earnest. By 35 stick a fork in you!

So in Wall Street terms, we would call you a trading position, not a buy
and hold...hence the rub...marriage. It doesn't make good business sense
to "buy you" (which is what you're asking) so I'd rather lease. In case
you think I'm being cruel, I would say the following. If my money were
to go away, so would you, so when your beauty fades I need an out. It's
as simple as that. So a deal that makes sense is dating, not marriage.

Separately, I was taught early in my career about efficient markets. So,
I wonder why a girl as "articulate, classy and spectacularly beautiful"
as you has been unable to find your sugar daddy. I find it hard to
believe that if you are as gorgeous as you say you are that the $500K
hasn't found you, if not only for a tryout.

By the way, you could always find a way to make your own money and then
we wouldn't need to have this difficult conversation.

With all that said, I must say you're going about it the right way.

Well reply using the same buildng of course.....
(would be interesting if the billboard said no...lol)

As it turned out, these messages were not of an actual marriage proposal,
it's an advert put up by Taipei 101 to entice those with deep pockets to
use their services. The cost? NT 5 - 12 million depending on the number of
words and pattern used.

But seriously, there might be a guy who would propose like this, but would
there be a girl who'll answer this way? The world of the super-rich is
beyond the grasp of common folk like me.

台北縣蘆洲一處菜園有一隻小黑羊「小黑」，因出生後就與狗一起長大，從沒見過其他的羊，結果竟以為自己是隻狗，不僅搶食雞腿便當，還學狗搖尾巴、賴在地上撒嬌；一名常與小黑羊玩耍的學童，因此誤以為羊天生吃雞肉，考試時答錯被扣分，母親啼笑皆非，向老師解釋也沒用，成了鄉里流傳的趣聞。不管是肉還是草，「小黑」都吃，渾身黑毛的小黑羊，最愛的食物不是牧草，卻是雞腿。由於從小與狗一起長大，這隻小黑羊自認是狗，小黑吃肉的行為看在正常的草食性同伴眼中可能會嚇得半死，但自認為是狗的小黑只覺得自己是隻頭上有角，還會ㄇㄟㄇㄟ叫的狗。自認為是狗的小黑，不但會學狗撲在主人身上撒嬌，連一旁真正的狗都對這隻大一號的怪羊畏懼三分，因為每一次打架，小黑又變回了羊，用頭上的角當武器。另外，從小就愛吃雞腿的小黑，也造成小朋友知識錯亂，曾經出現在考卷上的題目：羊吃的食物是什麼？結果小朋友不選魚不選草，偏偏選了雞肉。什麼都吃的怪羊小黑雖然已經不太像羊，但在小朋友心目中，牠還是最受歡迎的可愛明星；但獸醫提醒，讓原本吃草的羊吃肉，恐怕會造成器官失衡，小黑的主人可得好好想一想。

Hell of an expensive way to propose

A week ago while I was strolling in the streets of Taipei I saw this on
Taipei 101. Now that's hell of a way to propose...Just make sure she'll
say yes...haha...

I remember seeing someone propose during half-time of a basketball
game, asking the announcers to broadcast his message and with all
the cameras in the stadium trained on him and the girl...But surprise
surprise...the girl said NO...and the guy got booed out of the stadium...
Now that's a lesson for everyone...lol

Seems like every guy gets out of the way to really delight his girlfriend
and hopefully his girl, pleasantly surprised and moved, would say yes
with tears brimming in her eyes while nodding manically. However,
some of these attempts may really backfire and blow up in your face...
One of the popular ways is the "ring in the champagne glass"....
Come on....That's so cliche... People these days ought to be more
creative!

Some chinese families have the tradition of stashing a gold coin of
sorts into one of the many dumplings they've wrapped for new year's
eve dinner. The person that finds the dumpling with the coin inside is
said to have good luck throughtout the new year. So I'm thinking a
variation of that for a proposal...Put the ring in the dumpling! She'll
never suspect it. But then again if she bites too hard on the diamond
ring and loses a few teeth she might not be too happy about it, or
worse, if she swallows it(might be a good idea to get the paramedics
on standby). Or alternatively you can put the ring in a bao(包), but
dumplings are just much more easier to make by yourself.

Wow...I just went rambling on and on about dumplings. Originally I
just wanted to post the picture, put in a caption, and be done with it...
Btw, if anyone tries my suggestion,give me some feedback on whether
it works.....lol

南非小鎮企鵝當鄰居與人和諧共存

一般人對企鵝的印象就是生活在寒冷的南極大陸或者動物園裡，不過在南非一處小鎮，卻有瀕臨絕種的保育動物非洲企鵝當鄰居，企鵝可以大搖大擺在街上閒晃，甚至企鵝爸媽去捕魚，小企鵝就給人類照顧，形成一種自然界和平共存的奇妙現象。

在南非的一個小鎮，鎮上住了將近4000隻非洲企鵝，企鵝真的就這樣在馬路上一搖一擺的散步，每天都悠閒的到處啪啪走。當地居民說，「稍微散個步就會遇到企鵝，我們一起生活，很有趣。」

這裡的企鵝和當地人的關係超好，他們不但會一起去游泳，也跟當地的小孩子們成為超級好朋友。就連太陽太大時，企鵝也會自動跑到別人家遮陽。更誇張的是，就連企鵝寶寶也直接寄放到別人家。

一位居民介紹說，「這是比得和柯比，牠們的媽媽去捕魚了，還沒回來。」

才剛出生一月的小企鵝睜著圓滾滾的大眼睛，看著鏡頭一點也不怕生，模樣超級可愛，到了晚上企鵝還會自己過馬路，馬路上也有設立警告標誌，提醒駕駛人不要撞上可愛的企鵝。

此外，當地也有企鵝救難隊，專門照顧受傷或生病的企鵝。居民說，「為了照顧可愛的企鵝，大家都費盡心思努力著。」

目前全球各地每年平均減少1萬隻非洲企鵝，是瀕臨絕種的保育動物，當地居民希望盡全力照顧這群可愛的朋友，讓後代也能和非洲企鵝和平共處。

前幾天工程系賣點心的阿婆看到了到處飛的天蛾就對我說:「嗯，清明節又到了。」真不知道飛蛾跟清明節之間到底有什麼典故‧‧‧背後有像梁祝這般的故事嗎?話說回來，我注意了好幾年了，似乎每年清明節前後一定會下雨，每年必下，古人寫的詩果然不是隨便唬人的。

警方今天逮捕一匹網路之狼，在網路聊天室，聲稱自己是名攝影師，專門幫明星歌手拍沙龍照，廖曉立(廖冠博)約出年輕女子，到汽車旅館拍寫真集，接著就趁機性侵。警方上門逮人，從廖曉立(廖冠博)的電腦裡，發現有上百張性愛照片，估計受害女子可能有50人。

不勘入目、穿著清涼、引人遐想；一共上百張照片，全是廖曉立(廖冠博)，性侵的證據。

今年46歲的廖曉立(廖冠博)，身高大約186cm身材微胖！專門在網路上，謊稱自己是攝影名師，專拍歌手寫真，接著就約女孩子在汽車旅館，拍寫真集，還準備學校運動服、水手服，要被害女子穿上拍照。

小鳥築巢過程

這隻蜂鳥(應該是吧)是我在每天學校必經路上偶然看到的。有趣的是它似乎不怎
麼怕人，我拿起相機來猛拍它也沒什麼反應(還很配合的一直換pose給我拍) ^_^

上面這兩張是它在築巢時辛勤工作的樣子，飛來飛去片刻不休息。

這兩張是它築完巢後蹲在巢裡享受的樣子(好像在想事情)，不過好像沒看
到母鳥耶?希望它趕快找到一隻可愛的母鳥一起繁衍下一代嚕~~~

This is what I saw yesterday afternoon while waiting for my
haircut, a tall large caucausian male walking around barefoot,
complete with colorful nail 'art' and ring...well you don't
see that everyday do ya? Reminds me of my semester in
Australia where there would be guys going to school and
lecture barefoot in the winter!(and they're not aboriginal but
white guys)

It was a challenge to snap this shot non-chalantly with him
sitting besides me,fortunately he was listening to his ipod
so he didn't hear the shutter of my camera phone. Kind of made
me think what an 'interesting' year I've had up to this point.
First there was the 'comet/UFO' encounter in January, a few
interesting coincidences here and there,coming across a letter
in the Raffles Hall Letter 'H' mailbox that's addressed to a
location nowhere near NUS, and actually happening to know the
person it's addressed to. Now how often does any of those
happen? Wonder what's next in line? A-bian stepping down
voluntarily? haa...naa....An alien abduction or me winning the
lottery is more probable than that -_-|||

STARING at women's breasts is good for men's health and makes them live longer, a new survey reveals.

Researchers have discovered that a 10-minute ogle at women's breasts is as healthy as half-an-hour in the gym.

A five-year study of 200 men found that those who enjoyed a longing look at busty beauties had lower blood pressure, less heart disease and slower pulse rates compared to those who did not get their daily eyeful.

Dr Karen Weatherby, who carried out the German study, wrote in the New England Journal of Medicine: "Just 10 minutes of staring at the charms of a well endowed female is roughly equivalent to a 30-minute aerobics workout.

"Sexual excitement gets the heart pumping and improves blood circulation.

"There is no question that gazing at breasts makes men healthier.

"Our study indicates that engaging in this activity a few minutes daily cuts the risk of a stroke and heart attack in half.

"We believe that by doing so consistently, the average man can extend his life four to five years."

She added that sexy stars like Dolly Parton, Heather Locklear, Anna Nicole Smith and Demi Moore had proved to be especially good for the men's health.

I had a great game last night against Kent Ridge Hall.The match yesterday happened to be my last formal match in university and I was glad that we went out with a bang. In the first two quarters I didn't score much points but I did have a few blocks and grabbed rebounds.Fortunately in the 3rd quarter I've finally found my shooting touch and started hitting shot after shot. We managed to take back the lead after that and the crowd went wild. It's not too often that I hear guys and girls screaming at the top of their lungs cheering for me, and I have to say that it felt good. =D Still lost by 40-44 in the end but at least we gave them a good scare and won the respect of everyone present. In the end I got 11 pts, 3 blocks and at least 8 rebounds. My teammate Gao Ting got 17pts and played very well too. My friends in Kent Ridge Hall came up to me later and congratulated me on my shooting...I bumped into one of the referees in the toilet later and he said that I shot pretty well and that it's a shame we didn't win. At least I can say that I've did my best and have no regrets in uni about basketball =P

Bright green light across sky surprises many in Singapore

SINGAPORE: A bright light across the sky took many Singaporeans by surprise on Sunday evening.

Callers to our hotline said that at about 7.40pm, they saw a bright green light across the evening sky.

Some described it as a shooting star; others said it was like a satellite re-entering the earth's atmosphere.

They also said it was not very high up in the sky and it had streaked over brightly from east to west.

It was over in a matter of seconds.

Viewers called us from all over Singapore – Serangoon North, Sembawang, Woodlands, Selegie Road, Bedok, Bukit Panjang and Marina South.

Ismail Yussof, one of the eyewitnesses, said: "I thought it was a comet. I was stunned, staring at the sky. A lot of people were watching it.

His son managed to record the scene with the video function of his mobile phone. "It's like an aeroplane, very big. The front is like a cannon ball, full of colours - orange, yellow, blue and green. And it went off very fast, in about 10 seconds. I could see it very clearly."

The meteorological service said it had no information on the phenomenon as it was too small to be reflected on satellite pictures. - CNA/so

Seems like I've lost everything I've ever had confidence in.
Up until yesterday midnight I was still psyched with today's game,with
the whole team hitting shots while I'm on a pretty good shooting streak
myself...really a stark comparision between friendly matches and
competition....friendly: 19 points, 9 of 11 shooting
tournament: 0 points, 0 of 5 shooting

Nothing to say for myself...the referee was fair and everything,
some opponents has unsportsmanship-like behavior but that's always
the case in competition. I will play better the next game!!!

闖咖啡園吃果吐豆台灣獼猴咖啡古坑新品牌

　　台灣獼猴肆虐，現在又多了新口味「咖啡」！古坑鄉樟湖山區近年復植台灣咖啡，咖啡果實大又甜，引來成群獼猴先賞味，吃掉果肉吐豆子，吃遍咖啡園，農民無奈之餘轉念一想，乾脆撿拾猴群吐滿地的咖啡豆，去殼後烘焙，命名為「台灣獼猴豆」，反而成為特色。

　　古坑鄉樟湖村、荷苞村、華山村都是日據時代台灣咖啡產地，近年古坑台灣咖啡聲名遠播，村民利用殘存的老咖啡株繁殖咖啡樹，賴姓農民也在樟湖村種了五十多棵，剛開始有收成，今年結實纍纍，產量特別好。

　　潑猴「試吃」咖啡豆吐滿地

　　沒想到，既紅又甜的咖啡果，農民還來不及收成，就引來台灣獼猴「試吃」，吃了順口，猴群就從九月開始吃到現在，吃掉整片咖啡園；獼猴邊吃果肉，邊吐豆子，有時還含了一整口的豆子，當成彈珠噴，噴得方圓五十公尺地上都是。

　　咖啡農鬥不過猴群，眼看整片咖啡園全軍覆沒，欲哭無淚，他轉知咖啡農友廖錦東，要提防台灣獼猴覬覦，廖錦東好奇前往查看，發現獼猴吐掉的咖啡豆數量驚人，從咖啡園到附近的香蕉園，到處都是剝皮的咖啡豆。

　　去皮、乾淨讓農民撿現成

　　廖錦東說，他蹲了兩個多小時，就撿了二、三千顆咖啡豆，約兩公斤重。他說，台灣獼猴向來都是「造孽」的多，與當地農夫勢不兩立，但這次牠們吃了咖啡「果肉」，卻吐出了人需要的「豆子」，而且是乾淨的豆子，不必再去皮，比起人工去皮，省時省力多了。

　　廖錦東表示，肆虐咖啡園的猴群，清晨五時以前就出沒，一顆一顆摘咖啡；猴群既聰明又貪心，不紅的、掉在地上的都不吃，專挑又紅又大的吃，常常塞滿了口，坐在石塊上慢慢享受，有時還一邊「嗯嗯」，一邊吐子（咖啡豆），享受得很。

　　廖錦東指出，咖啡園附近就是香蕉園，簡直成了猴群的「天堂」，吃完咖啡豆就到香蕉園「巡視」，只要有成熟的香蕉，絕對等不到被人吃，有時還爬上爬下，連沒有香蕉的幼苗也被扒壞。

　　自家備有咖啡烘焙機的廖錦東，有空就去撿「現成」的咖啡豆，他說雖然經過猴子的口，但咖啡豆很完整。為了做紀念，他已烘焙好了一袋，命名為「台灣獼猴豆」，招待親朋嚐嚐獨一無二的「台灣獼猴咖啡」。

看著外面的大雨　突然想到　對厚　等會去游泳還不是會濕

於是我便提議　但大家都覺得太蠢　不敢玩　但又想看別人這樣騎車

當然就猜起拳啦　最輸的那位　就不穿上衣直接穿泳褲騎車去學校

於是我便脫掉上衣換上泳褲正準備戴上安全帽騎上我的小白時

其中一名室友突然把我喊住

九官鳥會學人說話，但如果說的是三字經，可讓人頭大了！南投集集特有生物中心，有2隻原本飼養在賭場裡的九官鳥，說的全是主人教的粗俗用語，特生中心人員放佛經想要教化他們，不過一點效果都沒有。
這2隻九官鳥會學人說話，但聽聽看牠們說的是什麼。一開口，就是罵人的粗俗話，實在讓人受不了，放佛經薰陶一下他們，沒想到情況更糟。
九官鳥聽不下去，還發出尖銳的叫聲，特有生物中心人員實在又氣又好笑，他們說這2隻九官鳥原本飼養在賭場裡，但法院查封賭場後，九官鳥就被送到這裡飼養，經過特生中心人員3年來的訓練總算好了一點點。
不過不知道是不是本性難移，正當記者要採訪，九官鳥又出口成髒。記者：「他們為什麼？」九官鳥：「XX小。」記者：「哈！牠又講了。」
看來佛經教化效果似乎很有限，要讓這2隻九官鳥改過向善，恐怕還要再想想其他辦法。

I was refereeing both the guy's and girl's basketball matches for Raffles inter-block games on monday and tuesday as well as playing for my block. After two whole nights of being the ref, I would have to say that being a good ref is no easy task. Firstly, you will definitely miss or misjudge calls. Secondly, you might be just as clueless as the next person on which side should have possession. Then there's the countless 'suggestions' by the crowd on what call it should be. And sometimes if you called everything the entire flow of the game would be disrupted and the matches would probably last until midnight(esp. for the girl's games). All in all I would say that it was a pretty interesting experience, as I'm accustomed to playing on the court rather than ref-ing the game. Actually playing for my block was also pretty exciting although most of the ballers I know are in blk 2. By some stroke of luck I managed to hit all my three 3-ptrs which also happen to be the only three 3-ptrs in the tournament =P In the end blk 5 still lost but at least I was playing my best. Hopefully now the Raffles hall committee are content that at least they've imported a fairly-decent player and their choice of granting me a room isn't a mistake. Hearing the crowd cheer after I hit each 3 was a great feeling, something I haven't felt since my jc playing days. Although I have no illusion that Raffles would have any shot at the inter-hall basketball champion I can guarantee that me and the other guys won't give up without a fight.

有個律師朋友也在學校裡兼課，他常會找一些學生來工讀，

或者是在接到某些公部門的研究案時，便會找一些研究助理。

有幾個年輕助理，跟著他兩、三年，我們也就認識了。

其中有個叫做阿雅的女孩，我頭一次見到她，她捧著好多檔案匣，

像表演特技似的，從樓梯上下來。一臉都是笑，嘴又甜，

律師朋友對我說：「阿雅人很乖的。」

我一直以為他對阿雅很滿意，也以為阿雅畢業後會留在事務所，

沒想到，我有一天竟在電腦展覽場的叫賣攤位上，

看見了吆喝著：「最後機會，割喉價！不買你會後悔！」的阿雅。

「什麼時候離開事務所的？」我在擁擠的人潮中，扯著嗓子問阿雅。

她的眼圈忽然有些紅：「離開三個月了。老師說我不是幹這一行的，我只好走了……」

我聽了覺得心酸，也不知道怎麼安慰她，扯開嗓門問：「妳在這裡還好嗎？」

「反正就是工作嘛。沒差！」她努力的笑著，給自己打氣。

人才早已設定

過了一段時間，我遇見律師朋友，他身邊的助理變少了，也沒有那種像阿雅一樣笑
臉迎人的類型。

「縮編啦？」我笑著問：「都看不見甜美的笑臉了。」

朋友微笑的說：「阿雅啊，我讓她離開了。她不適合做這個工作。」

「是嗎？我倒覺得她挺賣力的。」「賣力有什麼用？我需要的是人才，不是人力。」

我有點震撼。關於人才與人力，確實是我以前沒想過的問題，

我一直以為只要夠投入，就能把事情做好，卻忽略了專業性與準確性，人才是最重要的。

如果方法不對，就只是白費力氣，如果不能讓自己更專業，就無法成為人才，只能淪為人力。

人力隨處可得，人才卻需要發現，需要培養。

「你可以培養她，讓她變成人才啊。」我還在掙扎。

朋友疲倦的看了我一眼：「有些人已經設定了自己是人才，有些人無所謂，要怎麼培養啊？他自己都無所謂了。」

我忽然想到阿雅在賣場說的那句話：「反正就是工作嘛。沒差！」

也許就是因為都沒差，才失去了競爭力吧。我終於沉默了

　明天就是農曆的閏七月，儘管農曆七月民間俗稱鬼月，又遇到閏月，但新竹都城隍廟還是強調，陰間的好兄弟還是只有一個月的假期，換言之，七月半普渡好兄弟，只要辦理一次即可，第一個農曆七月卅號的晚上十一點，各城隍廟還是準時關鬼門，錯過關鬼門的好兄弟，將成為孤魂野鬼。(彭清仁報導)依照民間習俗，農曆七月是俗稱的鬼月，幾乎是諸事不宜，因此民間習俗對農曆七月不少人都有些心理障礙，由於今年是閏七月，也有不少的民間習俗，除了嫁出去的女兒，在閏七月都會買豬腳送給父母，為父母親添福添壽，但閏七月也有不少民眾都認為是雙鬼月，是否連續兩個月都是諸事不宜，不過根據全省歷史最悠久，城隍爺中位階最高的新竹都城隍廟管理委員會指出，儘管是閏七月，但鬼月仍然只有一個，農曆七月初一開鬼門，七月卅號準時關鬼門，第二個農曆七月並非是鬼月，因此逾假不歸的陰間好兄弟，如果錯過了關鬼門的時間，將成為孤魂野鬼，同樣的，農曆七月半的普渡好兄弟儀式，也是只辦理第一個農曆七月十五日的普渡，而新竹都城隍廟，今年農曆七月開鬼門的儀式，也破例由二爺范將軍親自開鬼門，農曆七月十五都城隍爺也將親自奉旨遶境賑孤。

AMD set to acquire ATI

Saw on the news recently that AMD has reached an agreement to acquire the graphics chips manufacturer ATI with $4.2 billion IN CASH and 57 million shares of AMD common stock. Wow! This is really a rather unexpected move! Seems like AMD is no longer content on offering microprocessors alone and is set on provide an entire package like what Intel is doing...From the news AMD hopes to integrate the GPU into its microP within the next few years. Too bad after the deal AMD would already be cash-strapped and won't be able to acquire any chipset manufacturers like Via or Sis. I was wondering why AMD choose to acquire ATI instead of Nvidia since Nvidia already manufactures the nForce Series chipset for AMD processors? Well they must have their reasons.

Wonder how Intel would respond to that? But whether the deal goes down still depends on the decision of the shareholder of both companies... The computer scene is getting more and more interesting. First we have Macs that can load Windows, now this. Shall see what happens next. Bug free Windows? Nah....that's never going to happen...lol

話說有一天我跟我老媽一起去剪頭髮(我姐不在我還真是子代女職耶!)，一起坐下來後我媽眼神閃爍的叫我先剪，嘴邊還有"奸巧"的微笑....剪到一半...好啦..老媽看苗頭不對竟然烙跑說"我不剪了，他剪就好。" 我頭在人家手上又不能說不剪了....-_-...真是...

回家的路上還安慰我說"很好阿".....這種事還不只發生一次勒! 我爸在新加坡也幹過同樣的好事! 難怪會成為夫妻!

Wasn't really in the mood for blogging since I came back....so many things to do....benign tumor to slice off...wisdom teeth to pluck...yada yada...the list goes on....This time round I've spent some quality time on the operation table...lol...My little operation and dentist trips are actually pretty interesting(in my opinion) anecdotes...perhaps some time I shall post it complete with gory details...hehe

For a while now hairbands(髮髻) are all the rage as a result of 楊丞琳 and it's considered uber-fashionable to be wearing a hairband. However I've discovered an interesting truth after my 'extensive observation' in HK and Taipei(btw...if you don't know what the 特產 of HK is, it's the many 阿婆s wandering around all over the streets...comparatively there are rather few 阿伯s)Grandmas love to wear hairbands too! LOL! Guess 楊丞琳's stylist sort of stole the idea on a visit to Grandma's
